POSITION OVERVIEW:

NERD Lab is seeking a reliable, energetic, and engaging STEM Instructor to help lead hands-on STEM programs for students ranging from VPK through high school. This position plays a key role in creating consistent, high-quality STEM experiences through project-based learning, engineering challenges, robotics, science labs, coding activities, and hands-on experiments.


This is not a traditional classroom teaching position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable learning new concepts, adapting to a variety of STEM topics, and confidently leading interactive activities with students of varying ages and skill levels.


The ideal candidate is positive, adaptable, organized, and passionate about helping students build confidence and interest in STEM fields.


SCHEDULE:

  • Monday–Wednesday
  • 15-25hrs/week between 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Includes daytime STEM programs and afterschool activities/clubs
  • Opportunities for additional hours


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead engaging, hands-on STEM activities for students VPK–12
  • Facilitate project-based learning experiences across science, technology, engineering, and math
  • Prepare, organize, and reset materials for STEM activities and labs
  • Support recurring programs such as STEM WEEKDAYS, afterschool clubs, robotics activities, camps, science labs, and STEM events
  • Learn and lead new STEM activities and concepts as programs evolve
  • Create a positive, safe, and encouraging learning environment
  • Assist with classroom management, student engagement, and hands-on instruction
  • Support general STEM lab operations, organization, and activity preparation


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong foundation in STEM, preferably with experience in formal or informal educational settings
  • Comfortable working with students ranging from VPK through high school
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable leading groups and facilitating hands-on activities
  • Able to quickly learn and confidently lead new STEM concepts and activities
  • Strong interest in project-based learning and hands-on education
  • Organized, dependable, adaptable, and energetic
  • Comfortable working across multiple STEM disciplines
  • Experience working with children, camps, clubs, tutoring, education, or youth programs preferred
  • MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK
